Biography
Charles Richman was an American stage and film actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career in the theatre and appeared on Broadway from the 1890s until the 1930s, including founding the Garrick Theatre Stock Company in 1906.
Richman entered films in 1914 and continued working until 1939, often in supporting roles as dignified authority figures. His later screen credits include Judge Thatcher in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1938), Thayer in Holiday (1938), M. Delagorgue in The Life of Emile Zola (1937) and Colonel Mantle in Dark Victory (1939). He was married to actress Jane Grey and had two children.
