Biography
Charles Williams (born Isaac Cozerbreit) was a British composer and conductor. He was born in London on 8 May 1893 and died in Findon Valley, Worthing, on 7 September 1978. He studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music and began his career as a violinist before moving into film music.
From 1933 to 1939 he worked at Gaumont British Films as a composer. He contributed music to numerous British films, including The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), The Lady Vanishes (1938) and Night Train to Munich (1940). Much of his film work was uncredited stock music. He also composed light orchestral pieces and conducted the Queen's Hall Light Orchestra after the Second World War.
