Biography
Charlie McDowell is an American film director and screenwriter. Born on 10 July 1983 in Los Angeles, California, he is the son of actors Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen. He trained at the AFI Conservatory.
McDowell made his feature directorial debut with the romantic thriller The One I Love (2014). He has since directed the Netflix films The Discovery (2017) and Windfall (2022), and episodes of television series including Silicon Valley (2016), Legion (2018), Dear White People (2017–2018), On Becoming a God in Central Florida (2019) and Tales from the Loop (2020).
He has been married to actress Lily Collins since September 2021.
