Biography
Chick Ortega, also credited as Chico Rojo Ortega or Chick Ortéga, is a French actor born on 10 March 1961 in Nancy, Meurthe-et-Moselle. He began his career as a musician, founding the band Dick Tracy in Nancy in 1980 before moving into acting.
Ortega first appeared on screen in Wim Wenders’ Wings of Desire (1987) as the drummer. He gained wider recognition for his role as the postman in Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro’s Delicatessen (1991). The same year he played Mimosa in Une époque formidable…, earning a nomination for the César Award for Best Male Newcomer.
He has since appeared in films including Little Indian, Big City (1994), Dobermann (1997) as Pitbull, and 2 Days in Paris (2007), as well as numerous television roles such as Jacky Leroy in the series Doc Martin.
