Biography

Chris Barrie, also credited as Christopher Barrie, is a British actor and impressionist. Born on 28 March 1960 in Hannover, Germany, he began his career performing impressions in London comedy clubs and on television variety shows such as The David Essex Showcase. He provided voices and puppeteering for the ITV sketch series Spitting Image from 1984 to 1996.

Barrie is best known for playing Arnold Rimmer (and Ace Rimmer) in the science-fiction comedy series Red Dwarf across multiple series from 1988 to 2020. He starred as Gordon Brittas in the BBC sitcom The Brittas Empire (1991–1997). Other credits include the role of Hillary in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and its 2003 sequel, appearances in Blackadder (1983) and The Young Ones (1982), and an episode of Midsomer Murders (1997).
