Biography
Christopher Gunning (also credited as Chris Gunning) was an English composer of music for film, television and the concert hall. He was born on 5 August 1944 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Edmund Rubbra and Richard Rodney Bennett.
His film and television scores include La Vie en Rose (2007), Grace of Monaco (2014), Agatha Christie's Poirot (1989–2004), Under Suspicion (1991), Firelight (1997) and The Day of the Triffids (1981). He won four BAFTA awards, for La Vie en Rose, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Middlemarch and Porterhouse Blue, and three Ivor Novello Awards. Gunning also composed thirteen symphonies between 2001 and 2020. He died on 25 March 2023.
