Biography
Cindy Chao is a production designer based in Los Angeles. She frequently collaborates with Michele Yu; the pair began working together as undergraduates at UC San Diego and have continued as a team for more than fifteen years on film and television projects.
Their credits include the feature films Much Ado About Nothing (2012) and Grandma (2015), as well as the series A Black Lady Sketch Show (2019–2023), Waffles + Mochi (2021), American Born Chinese (2023) and Wonder Man (2026). For their work on A Black Lady Sketch Show, Chao and Yu received Primetime Emmy nominations in 2022 and 2023, and multiple Art Directors Guild nominations.
