Biography
Claire Stansfield is a British-Canadian actress, director and former model. Born on 27 August 1964 in London, England, she was raised in Toronto, Canada. She worked as a model in her teens before training at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and moving to Hollywood to pursue acting.
She is best known for her recurring role as the shamaness Alti in Xena: Warrior Princess (1998–2001). Other television credits include appearances as Sid in Twin Peaks (1990), the title character in the The X-Files episode "The Jersey Devil" (1993), Kristina Harper in Frasier (1994–2001) and Alpha in The Flash (1990). Film roles include parts in The Doors (1991), Drop Zone (1994) and Sweepers (1998).
Stansfield directed the short film The Lovely Leave (1999). In 2002 she co-founded the clothing line C&C California with Cheyann Benedict, specialising in 1970s-style T-shirts.
