Biography
Clement Virgo is a Jamaican-born Canadian film and television director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Montego Bay, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 11 and grew up in Toronto. He trained at the Canadian Film Centre, where he developed his debut feature screenplay.
Virgo's feature films include Rude (1995), which premiered at Cannes, Love Come Down (2000), Lie with Me (2005) and Poor Boy's Game (2007). His later features are Brother (2022) and Steal Away (2025). On television he has directed episodes of The Wire (2002), The Book of Negroes (2015), which he also co-wrote, Greenleaf, Billions, Empire and DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (2022). He serves as executive producer on several series, including Greenleaf alongside Oprah Winfrey.
Virgo runs the production company Conquering Lion Pictures with Damon D'Oliveira. His work has received multiple Canadian Screen Awards and other accolades.
