Biography
Cliff Osmond, born Clifford Osman Ebrahim, was an American character actor, screenwriter and acting teacher. He was born on 26 February 1937 in Jersey City, New Jersey, and died on 22 December 2012 in Pacific Palisades, California.
Osmond appeared in four films directed by Billy Wilder: Irma la Douce (1963) as a police sergeant, Kiss Me, Stupid (1964) as Barney Milsap, The Fortune Cookie (1966) as Purkey, and The Front Page (1974) as Officer Jacobi. He had more than 100 film and television credits between 1962 and 1996, including guest roles in series such as The Twilight Zone, Gunsmoke and Murder, She Wrote.
He also wrote for television, including an episode of The Streets of San Francisco, and wrote and directed the 1988 feature The Penitent. Osmond taught acting for many years and estimated that he had taught more than 10,000 students.
