Biography

Colin McCormack was a Welsh actor. Born John Colin McCormack on 2 December 1941 in Penarth near Cardiff, he trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London after studying at Cardiff Art College. He began his professional career with the Bristol Old Vic and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1967, remaining associated with it for the rest of his life. He also appeared regularly at the Royal Court Theatre.

On television he played Mr. Batty in The Good Life (1977), the Commander in Doctor Who (1977), Alan in Chocky (1984) and Kevin in EastEnders. Film roles included Police Constable 1 in Death Line (1972), Sir Mador in First Knight (1995) and the Army Recruitment Doctor in Let Him Have It (1991). McCormack died of cancer on 19 June 2004 in Middlesex, aged 62. He was married to actress Wendy Allnutt.
