Connor Storrie

Connor Storrie pays attention to the other actor in the intimate scenes of Heated Rivalry (2025), and it makes a difference. Playing Ilya Rozanov opposite Hudson Williams's Shane Hollander, he makes the attraction between the rival hockey players convincing before the writing has explained much about either man. The physical encounters have room for small responses, so affection becomes believable without needing to be announced. We were won over by their tenderness. The care in the choreography lets both actors contribute to it.

The smaller roles in Tiny Beautiful Things (2023) and Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) came before Heated Rivalry brought him wider recognition. That step up gives us a developing romance on which to judge him, with enough time to see what happens when the initial attraction grows more complicated. We would not turn one substantial performance into a claim about everything he might do, but there is enough here to make us follow the work.

His Russian accent and dialogue in Heated Rivalry come from intensive study, and the result is convincing. Storrie changes voice, posture and gait to build a character, but the useful question is what happens once the preparation is done. Here, he keeps the melodrama plausible rather than making us watch the effort involved. That matters in a romance whose writing does not always give its leads enough to work with. He can make us accept a feeling the script has done too little to earn.

Jacob Tierney, who created, wrote and directed the series, gives attraction serious attention and allows it time on screen. That suits Storrie, whose responsiveness needs those opportunities. His chemistry with Williams carries some thin writing without making the weakness disappear. The series is less convincing as hockey drama, and its leads cannot provide all the detail the script leaves out. We recommend it for their work together, with modest expectations of the sport.
