Biography
Cyril Luckham (25 July 1907 – 8 February 1989) was an English film, television and theatre actor. He was the husband of stage and screen actress Violet Lamb.
The son of a paymaster captain in the Royal Navy, Luckham was educated at RNC Osborne and Dartmouth and briefly served in the navy before being invalided out. He trained for the stage with the Arthur Brough school at Folkestone, making his debut there in 1935. After provincial repertory work, including with the Rapier Players in Bristol, he made his West End debut in 1945.
Luckham appeared in numerous films and television series. His film credits include A Man for All Seasons (1966) as Archbishop Cranmer, Billy Budd (1962), The Pumpkin Eater (1964), Anne of the Thousand Days (1969) and Providence (1977). On television he played the White Guardian in Doctor Who (1963) and roles in The Saint (1962), Tales of the Unexpected (1979) and The Barchester Chronicles (1982).
