Biography
D.J. Caruso is an American film and television director and producer. He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, and studied television production at Pepperdine University. Early in his career he worked as a producer and second-unit director on films including Point of No Return (1993) under the mentorship of director John Badham.
Caruso began directing television episodes in the mid-1990s, including work on VR.5, Dark Angel and Smallville. He directed four episodes of the series The Shield between 2002 and 2006. His feature-film debut was the 2002 crime thriller The Salton Sea.
Subsequent feature films include Taking Lives (2004), Disturbia (2007), Eagle Eye (2008), I Am Number Four (2011) and xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017). He has also directed the television series Lioness (2023) and the film Redeeming Love (2022).
