Biography
Daniel Durant (born 24 December 1989) is an American stage and screen actor. Born deaf in Detroit, Michigan, he grew up in Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 2008 and studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology and Gallaudet University.
Durant began his professional career in theatre with Deaf West productions in Los Angeles. His breakthrough stage role was as Moritz Stiefel in the 2015 Broadway revival of Spring Awakening. On screen, he is known for the recurring role of Matthew in the series Switched at Birth (2013–2017) and as Leo Rossi in the film CODA (2021). He has also appeared in You (2019) and other television series.
Durant and the CODA cast received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and a Sundance Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast.
