Biography
David Butler was an American film and television director. Born in San Francisco, California, he began his career as an actor in silent films before making his directorial debut in 1927 with the comedy High School Hero.
Butler directed numerous feature films, including several Shirley Temple vehicles for Fox and musicals such as Road to Morocco (1942) and Calamity Jane (1953). From the late 1950s he worked primarily in television, directing episodes of series including Leave It to Beaver (1957), Wagon Train (1957) and The Twilight Zone (1959).
