Biography
David E. Blewitt (also credited as Dave Blewitt or David Blewitt) was an American film editor. Born in Los Angeles, California, on 7 August 1928, he died in Sherman Oaks, California, on 8 July 2010.
His feature film credits include Butterflies Are Free (1972), That's Entertainment! (1974), The Buddy Holly Story (1978), The Competition (1980), Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983), Ghostbusters (1984), Psycho III (1986) and Moonwalker (1988). He also edited episodes of the television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and the special Bob Hope: The First 90 Years (1993). Blewitt received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing for The Competition and won a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the Bob Hope special. He was awarded the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award in 2004.
