Biography
David Ihlenfeld is an American television writer and producer. Born on 31 March 1977 in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 1999. He began his career with an internship at Malcolm in the Middle, which led to a staff writer position and a writing credit on the episode "Stevie in the Hospital" (2006).
Ihlenfeld joined the writing staff of Family Guy in 2011, after earlier work as assistant to executive producer David A. Goodman and story editor. He received writing credits on 24 episodes between 2011 and 2014, including three co-written with David Wright. He has also written for Star Trek: Lower Decks (as Dave Ihlenfeld), Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head, and other series.
In 2022 he co-created, wrote and executive-produced the animated series The Gimmicks. Earlier, he authored the memoir Dog Days: A Year in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile about his post-college job driving the vehicle.
