Biography

David Lewis (19 October 1916 – 11 December 2000) was an American actor born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his television career in 1949 with an appearance on Captain Video and His Video Rangers and went on to work extensively in both film and television.

Lewis appeared in the 1960 film The Apartment as Al Kirkeby. His other credits include The Absent-Minded Professor (1961), The Boston Strangler (1968) and multiple episodes of series such as Perry Mason, Batman (as Warden Crichton), The Andy Griffith Show and The Rockford Files.

He is best known for portraying Edward Quartermaine on the soap opera General Hospital from 1978 to 1993. Lewis received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama in 1982.
