Biography
David Luther is a cinematographer. He was born on 1 July 1972 in Munich to Czech and Slovak parents, the son of Slovak cinematographer Igor Luther. He studied cinematography at FAMU in Prague and then at the National Film & Television School in Beaconsfield, graduating with first-class honours.
Luther began his career in commercials before moving into television drama. He is known for his work as director of photography on the series Sherlock (2010), The White Queen (2013), His Dark Materials (2019), Das Boot (2018–2020) and Silo (2023). He has received a German Camera Prize, German Television Awards and ASC nominations for his cinematography.
