Biography

David Mendoza (1894–1975) was an American composer, conductor and music director. Born in New York City, he worked extensively in film music during the transition to sound cinema and into the sound era.

He contributed original scores and music direction to numerous Warner Bros. productions, including Disraeli (1929), The Public Enemy (1931), Little Caesar (1931) and Svengali (1931). Earlier credits encompass music for The Big Parade (1925) and Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1925). He also served as musical director on many Vitaphone short subjects in the 1930s and 1940s.
