Biography
David Neilson is an English actor born on 13 March 1949 in Loughborough, Leicestershire. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and began his career with roles in television series such as Z-Cars, Bergerac, Casualty and Secret Army.
Neilson appeared as Lawton in the 1982 BBC series Boys from the Blackstuff and as Steve in the 1990 Mike Leigh film Life Is Sweet. He is best known for playing Roy Cropper in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street since 1995. He has also appeared in the Mike Leigh films Secrets & Lies (1996) and other television productions including EastEnders and Heartbeat.
