Biography

David Robb is a Scottish actor. He was born in London on 23 August 1947 and grew up in Edinburgh, where he was educated at the Royal High School. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Robb is known for playing Germanicus in the BBC series I, Claudius (1976). His other television work includes Dr Clarkson in Downton Abbey (2010–2015 and 2022) and roles in Highlander: The Series (1995), Wolf Hall (2015) and The Flame Trees of Thika (1981). Film appearances include Swing Kids (1993) and The Young Victoria (2009).

He received Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the Downton Abbey cast. Robb was married to actress Briony McRoberts from 1978 until her death in 2013.
