Biography
David Soul (born David Richard Solberg, 28 August 1943 – 4 January 2024) was an American-British actor and singer. He rose to prominence playing Detective Kenneth 'Hutch' Hutchinson in the television series Starsky & Hutch (1975–1979). He also directed three episodes of the series.
Soul appeared in films such as Magnum Force (1973) and the miniseries Salem's Lot (1979). He directed the Miami Vice episode 'No Exit' (1984) and episodes of other series including Crime Story and China Beach. He achieved chart success as a singer, with UK number one singles including 'Don't Give Up on Us' and 'Silver Lady'. In the mid-1990s he moved to the United Kingdom and took British citizenship in 2004 while retaining his US citizenship; he later appeared in West End productions.
