Biography
Dayna Lynne North is an American television writer, producer and showrunner. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, she graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. She began her career as a staff writer on the Lifetime series Any Day Now before joining the writing staff of Soul Food.
North wrote episodes and served as story editor and executive story editor on the first two seasons of Veronica Mars (2004–2006). She later worked as co-executive producer on Lincoln Heights, which received an NAACP Image Award for Best Drama, and as head writer and co-showrunner on Single Ladies. She wrote the 2014 Lifetime film An En Vogue Christmas and contributed episodes to Switched at Birth.
She served as writer and executive producer on the first three seasons of Insecure (2016–2018). North co-created the 2022 Peacock miniseries The Best Man: The Final Chapters and has a development deal with Sony Pictures Television through her company Loud Sis Productions. She is a first cousin of actor Don Cheadle.
