Biography
Dearbhla Molloy is an Irish actress born in Dublin in 1946. She began her career with Irish-language plays at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in England.
Molloy has built an extensive stage career, appearing in productions at the Abbey and Gate theatres in Dublin, with the RSC, and on Broadway in plays including Dancing at Lughnasa (1991–92), for which she received a Tony Award nomination, A Touch of the Poet, Outside Mullingar and The Ferryman. She has also performed in the West End, including as Gertrude opposite Kenneth Branagh in Hamlet.
Her screen credits include the role of Elaine in Educating Rita (1983), Anna in No Reservations (2007), Aoife Muldoon in Wild Mountain Thyme (2020), and appearances in series such as Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War, Scandal and Coronation Street.
