Biography
Deborah Findlay is an English actress. She studied English at the University of Leeds, where she joined a theatre company, and later worked with groups in Leeds before moving to London. She has appeared in stage productions including the original Top Girls and seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Findlay won an Olivier Award and an Outer Critics' Circle Award for her performance in Pam Gems' Stanley (1997). She has worked extensively in theatre, including at the National Theatre and Donmar Warehouse, and appeared in the US premiere of Vincent River (2008) and a revival of Madame de Sade (2009).
Her film credits include Truly Madly Deeply (1990) as Claire, The End of the Affair (1999), Suite Française (2015), The Lady in the Van (2015), The Ones Below (2016) and Jackie (2016). On television she has appeared in Torchwood (2009), Cranford (2007–2009) and The Split (2018–2022) as Ruth Defoe.
