Biography
Deborah Moggach is an English novelist, playwright and screenwriter. Born on 28 June 1948 in Middlesex, she was brought up in Hertfordshire and London, and graduated from the University of Bristol in 1971 with a degree in English.
She has written nineteen novels, several of which have been adapted for screen, including These Foolish Things (2004), the basis for the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012), and Tulip Fever (1999), which she also adapted as a screenplay for the 2017 film. Her other screen work includes the screenplay for Pride & Prejudice (2005), for which she received a BAFTA nomination, and the television adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank (2009).
Moggach was appointed OBE in 2018 for services to literature and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
