Biography

Deborah Newhall is a costume designer credited on feature films, television and theatre. Her film credits include Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009), Liberal Arts (2012), Slender Man (2018), Proud Mary (2018), I Care a Lot (2021) and Absolution (2024). She has also worked as key costumer and costume supervisor on titles such as Gone Baby Gone (2007) and 27 Dresses (2008).

Newhall holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her theatre designs have appeared at Boston Lyric Opera, the Public Theater (with Lucille Lortel and Hewes award nominations for The Ruby Sunrise) and Radio City Music Hall. She has taught costume design and history at Brown University and costume rendering at Brandeis University, and received two Emmy nominations for her work on the series ZOOM.
