Biography
Debra Hill was an American film producer and screenwriter. She began her career as a script supervisor before producing and co-writing Halloween (1978) with director John Carpenter. She went on to produce several further films with Carpenter, including The Fog (1980), Escape from New York (1981) and Halloween II (1981).
Independently, Hill produced The Dead Zone (1983), Clue (1985) and The Fisher King (1991). In 1986 she formed the production company Hill/Obst Productions with Lynda Obst; their credits included Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and Heartbreak Hotel (1988). She later established Debra Hill Productions under a deal with Walt Disney Pictures.
Hill died in 2005. She received the Women in Film Crystal Award in 2003.
