Biography

Dee Wallace is an American actress. Born Deanna Lee Bowers on 14 December 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas, she trained at the University of Kansas and worked briefly as a high-school drama teacher before beginning her screen career in the mid-1970s.

She first gained attention in horror films including The Stepford Wives (1975), The Hills Have Eyes (1977) and The Howling (1981). Her most widely recognised role is as Mary Taylor, the mother of the children, in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982). She received a Saturn Award nomination for the performance.

Wallace has continued to work extensively in film and television, often in genre roles, and appeared with her husband Christopher Stone in several projects before his death in 1995.
