Biography
Derek Connolly is an American screenwriter and film producer. He attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
He is known for his collaborations with director Colin Trevorrow. Connolly wrote the screenplay for Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) and co-wrote the screenplays for Jurassic World (2015) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). He received story credit on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022). Other credits include the screenplay for Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019). He was named on Variety’s Ten Screenwriters to Watch list in 2012 and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay for Safety Not Guaranteed.
