Biography
Mary Parent (born 1968) is an American film producer and former studio executive. A native of Santa Barbara, California, she studied business at the University of Southern California and entered the entertainment industry in the early 1990s after working in fashion and as a talent agency trainee.
She began her executive career at New Line Cinema, rising to vice president, and later joined Universal Pictures as senior vice president of production. In 2005 she co-founded Stuber/Parent Productions. In 2008 she was appointed chairman and co-CEO of MGM before founding Disruption Entertainment. Since 2016 she has served as vice chairman of worldwide production at Legendary Entertainment.
Parent has produced Pacific Rim (2013), Godzilla (2014), The Revenant (2015), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Dune (2021), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Dune: Part Two (2024) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), among others. The Revenant earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. She is also producing A Minecraft Movie (2025).
