Biography
Diana Coupland was an English actress and singer. Born in Leeds in 1928, she began her career as a singer in her teens, performing with big bands and on radio and television before turning to acting in the early 1960s. She had no formal dramatic training.
She is best known for playing Jean Abbott, the wife of Sid James's character, in the sitcom Bless This House (1971–1976). Her other credits include the film The Twelve Chairs (1970), Operation: Daybreak (1975) and guest roles in Casualty (2004) and One Foot in the Grave (1992). She also provided uncredited singing voices for films including Dr. No (1962). Coupland continued working in television until 2005.
