Biography
Diane Duane is an American writer of science fiction and fantasy. Born in New York City in 1952, she trained as a nurse and worked as a psychiatric nurse before moving to California in the mid-1970s to work as an assistant to writer David Gerrold. She began publishing novels in 1979 and screenplays shortly afterwards.
Duane is known for her Star Trek novels, including several in the Rihannsu series, and for co-writing the story of the 1987 Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'Where No One Has Gone Before'. She has also written for animated series including Transformers, Gargoyles and Batman: The Animated Series, as well as the Young Wizards young adult fantasy series. She married writer Peter Morwood in 1987 and later moved to Ireland.
