Biography
Michael Reaves (also credited as James Michael Reaves or J. Michael Reaves) was an American writer of television, film and novels. He wrote the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Where No One Has Gone Before" (1987) and was one of four credited screenwriters on the animated feature Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993).
Reaves worked extensively in animation as a writer and story editor. His credits include Batman: The Animated Series (1992–1995), for which he won a 1993 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program, Gargoyles (1994–1996), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) and The Smurfs (1981). He also wrote for live-action series including The Flash (1990) and Sliders (1995).
Reaves wrote numerous media tie-in novels and original fiction, often in collaboration with others including Steve Perry, Neil Gaiman and his daughter Mallory Reaves. He died in Los Angeles on 20 March 2023.
