Biography
Paul McClaran Dini is an American writer, animator and comic book creator. Born on 7 August 1957 in New York City, he attended Emerson College, where he earned a BFA in creative writing. He began his career with freelance animation scripts for Filmation and later worked for Lucasfilm on the animated series Ewoks and Droids.
Dini is known for his contributions to the DC Animated Universe, including writing for Batman: The Animated Series (1992–1995) and co-creating the character Harley Quinn with Bruce Timm. He wrote the screenplay for the feature film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) and served as a writer on the first season of the ABC series Lost (2004). His other credits include Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Duck Dodgers and the video games Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.
Dini has also written comics for DC, including Batman: Streets of Gotham and Zatanna. He created the live-action series Tower Prep (2010) and has received awards including an Inkpot Award and a Writers Guild of America Award for his work on Lost. He has been married to Misty Lee since 2005.
