Biography
DJ Próvaí, also known as JJ Ó Dochartaigh or James John Ó Dochartaigh, is an Irish DJ, actor and activist from Derry, Northern Ireland. He is a founding member of the Irish-language hip hop trio Kneecap, which he joined in 2017 alongside Mo Chara and Móglaí Bap.
Before his music career, Ó Dochartaigh worked as an Irish-language teacher at a Catholic secondary school. He appeared as himself in the 2024 biographical film Kneecap, for which he also received a story credit. The film premiered at Sundance and won several awards; Ó Dochartaigh was nominated for Best Lead Actor at the IFTA Awards and shared the British Independent Film Award for Best Joint Lead Performance with his bandmates.
