Biography
Dominic Lees is a British film and television director. London-born, he studied film in Poland under Krzysztof Zanussi and Krzysztof Kieślowski before completing postgraduate training at the Northern Film School in Leeds. He directed award-winning shorts including The Nose (1993) and Borderland (1994), the latter screened at the Venice Film Festival.
Lees directed episodes of series including This Life (1997), The Bill (1995–2003) and Casualty (1999–2006). His feature debut Outlanders (2007), which he also wrote, won awards at international festivals. He has worked as an associate producer on Channel 4 programmes and created multimedia work for opera.
Lees is Associate Professor in Filmmaking at the University of Reading, where his research focuses on generative AI and deepfakes in screen production.
