Biography
Dominique Michel, born Aimée Sylvestre, is a Canadian comedian, actress and singer from Quebec. She began her career in cabarets in the 1950s, performing songs written by Raymond Lévesque, and later appeared in variety shows and sitcoms on Radio-Canada television.
She is known for her long-running television work, including the successful sitcom Moi et l'autre (1966–1972), and for film roles in Denys Arcand’s The Decline of the American Empire (1986) and The Barbarian Invasions (2003), in which she played Dominique St. Arnaud. Michel received the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement in 1992 and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
