Biography

Rémy Girard is a Canadian actor from Quebec. Born on 10 August 1950 in Jonquière, he is the son of politician Fernand Girard. He initially studied law at Université Laval before switching to acting, and graduated from the Conservatoire de théâtre du Québec in 1974.

Girard first became prominent for playing Rémy in Denys Arcand's The Decline of the American Empire (1986), reprising the role in The Barbarian Invasions (2003). His other film credits include Jesus of Montreal (1989), Incendies (2010) as Notary Lebel, and The Fall of the American Empire (2018). He has also appeared in television series such as Les Bougon and hosted the game show La Chasse aux Trésors on TVA.
