Biography
Dominique Zardi (born Émile Jean Cohen-Zardi, also credited as Dominique Sardi) was a French actor. Born in Paris in 1930, he appeared in hundreds of feature films and television productions, frequently in small or uncredited roles as gangsters, policemen or passers-by. He worked regularly with directors including Claude Chabrol, Jean-Pierre Mocky and Pierre Granier-Deferre, often alongside Henri Attal.
His credits include the subway passenger in Pickpocket (1959), a prisoner in Le Trou (1960), a henchman in the Fantômas films (1964–1967), the taxi driver in Delicatessen (1991) and numerous supporting parts through to the mid-2000s. Zardi also wrote songs for several films and published books on boxing and crime. He died in Paris in 2009.
