Biography
Donald Bachardy is an American portrait artist and occasional actor. Born in Los Angeles in 1934, he studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and the Slade School of Art in London. He is known for his portraits of figures from film, literature and politics.
Bachardy appeared uncredited as a passenger in the back seat of a car in The Rose Tattoo (1955) and as a Malibu party guest in Rich and Famous (1981). He co-wrote the teleplay for the television film Frankenstein: The True Story (1973) and has worked as a consultant and portrait artist on other productions. He was the partner of writer Christopher Isherwood from 1953 until Isherwood's death in 1986.
