Biography
Don 'Red' Barry was an American actor. Born Milton Poimboeuf in Houston, Texas, he began his career with bit parts and small roles in films from the mid-1930s, including an appearance as Tex in Only Angels Have Wings (1939).
He gained prominence after playing the title character in the 1940 Republic serial Adventures of Red Ryder, from which he took his nickname. Barry subsequently starred in a series of westerns for Republic Pictures during the 1940s. He later worked in supporting roles in film and television through the 1970s, with appearances in series such as Bonanza, Batman and Little House on the Prairie.
Barry died in North Hollywood, California, on 17 July 1980.
