Biography
Donald Houston (6 November 1923 – 13 October 1991) was a Welsh actor. Born in Clydach Vale, Rhondda, he was the elder brother of actor Glyn Houston. After stage work with the Pilgrim Players and service in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, he made his film debut in 1949 in The Blue Lagoon and A Run for Your Money.
Houston had a long career as a character actor in British film and television, often in military roles. He appeared in Yangtse Incident (1957), The Longest Day (1962), 633 Squadron (1964), Where Eagles Dare (1968), The Sea Wolves (1980) and Clash of the Titans (1981). He also featured in comedies including Doctor in the House (1954) and Carry On Jack (1964), and played Charles Soames in Room at the Top (1959).
