Biography
Donfeld (born Donald Lee Feld; 3 July 1934 – 3 February 2007) was an American costume designer. A Los Angeles native, he attended Chouinard Art Institute and began his career designing album covers for Capitol Records at the age of 19. He later worked on production numbers for the Academy Awards before moving into feature films in the early 1960s.
He received four Academy Award nominations for costume design, for Days of Wine and Roses (1962), They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), Tom Sawyer (1973) and Prizzi's Honor (1985). Among his other film credits are The Great Race (1965), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), The China Syndrome (1979) and Spaceballs (1987). He also designed costumes for the television series Wonder Woman, earning an Emmy nomination in 1978.
