Biography
Douglas Adams (11 March 1952 – 11 May 2001) was an English writer and humorist. While at Cambridge he performed with the Footlights revue group. He formed a brief writing partnership with Graham Chapman of Monty Python, resulting in a writing credit on Monty Python's Flying Circus in 1974.
Adams created The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which began as a BBC radio series in 1978 and expanded into five novels, a 1981 television adaptation and a 2005 feature film. He wrote and script-edited episodes of Doctor Who in the late 1970s and created the Dirk Gently detective novels. His radio work is commemorated in the Radio Academy Hall of Fame.
