Biography
Drake Sather (24 May 1959 – 3 March 2004) was an American television writer, producer and stand-up comedian. Born in Seattle, Washington, he wrote for series including The Larry Sanders Show, for which he received a Primetime Emmy nomination in 1994, NewsRadio (seasons 2–5, where he also served as producer) and Saturday Night Live (1994–95 season).
Sather co-created the character Derek Zoolander with Ben Stiller and co-wrote the screenplay for the 2001 film Zoolander with Stiller and John Hamburg. He also co-created the NBC animated series Sammy with David Spade, wrote episodes of Ed and Gary & Mike, and contributed to The Dennis Miller Show. His final credit was as writer and executive producer on an unsold pilot remake of Mr. Ed.
