Biography
Ed Williams was an American actor and comedian. Born Edwin Wallace Williams in San Jose, California, on 26 November 1926, he worked as a broadcasting and speech teacher at Los Angeles City College before retiring and beginning a second career in acting.
He was best known for playing lab scientist Ted Olsen in the television series Police Squad! (1982) and reprising the role in the Naked Gun film trilogy: The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994). He also appeared in films including Father of the Bride (1991) as a reverend and Carnosaur (1993). Williams died in Los Angeles on 2 October 2025, aged 98.
