Biography
Edison Chen is a Canadian-born Hong Kong actor, singer, rapper and entrepreneur. Born in Vancouver in 1980, he was scouted in 1999 for a commercial and made his film debut in 2000 in the Japanese film Dead or Alive 2: Birds. He later appeared in Hong Kong productions including Gen-Y Cops (2000).
Chen is known for playing the young Lau Kin-ming in Infernal Affairs (2002) and its sequels Infernal Affairs II (2003) and Infernal Affairs III (2003). Other credits include Initial D (2005), The Twins Effect (2003), The Grudge 2 (2006) and a cameo in The Dark Knight (2008). He is also the founder of the streetwear brand CLOT.
In February 2008, following a sex photo scandal, Chen announced an indefinite withdrawal from the Hong Kong entertainment industry. He returned in 2010.
